US Schools Need More Bandwidth

Apart from everything else that US Schools seem to need to try to keep up with the rest of the world, apparently computer network bandwidth is also pretty high on that list. Think of bandwidth as water in a pipe - a narrow pipe lets less water through (less bandwidth), and a larger pipe lets more water through (more bandwidth). With increased use of computing devices of all kinds, and the move to online textbooks and collaboration tools, the projection from the State Educational Technology Directors Association is that:

U.S. educational institutions will need networks that deliver broadband performance of 100Mbps for every 1,000 students and staff members in time for the 2014-15 school year.
