Best Buy Stores Hurting, Reinventing Themselves

The largest US electronics retailer, Best Buy, is struggling to reinvent itself in the face of a hobbled US economy and the challenge of competing with online stores. The latest round of layoffs (another 2400), follows earlier announcements that 50 stores would be closed and a number of corporate jobs lost. The plan is to change the focus of the stores, and to make them smaller and more like the Apple retail stores, complete with a "Genius Bar" type of help desk.
