Less Than Half Of Tested Virus Scanners Catch Current Java Exploit

"Be Careful Out There" is a bit of an understatement these days, as the latest Java exploit is doing the rounds. Java is a ubiquitous programming language and is used on websites in a somewhat similar manner to Adobe's Flash, and seems to be just as subject to security vulnerabilities, despite regular "fixes". German security site Heise Security commissioned a test of 22  popular antivirus programs on a Windows XP computer, and found that only 9 of them successfully blocked both variations of the Java exploit involved in the test. Ouch.
