Mac OS X Beats Out Windows Vista

While surpassing the number of worldwide users of Microsoft's last big flop may seem like a sort of back-handed compliment, Apple's Mac OS X is continuing it's steady climb in popularity. According to NetMarketShare, in August 2012 Mac OS X had a global share of 7.13%. The same set of data shows Windows 7 also overtaking the venerable Windows XP as the world's most-used personal computer operating system. Apple is chipping away though, and selling around 4 million Macs every quarter.

You would be forgiven for thinking they were even more prevalent if you pay attention to TV shows and Movies, where almost everyone uses Macs - or occasionally Sony Vaio laptops...
