Smartphone As Personal Health Monitor

After a short time with a smartphone, you may come to rely upon it as your go-to device - phone, appointment book, entertainment; how about personal health monitor? There are already a lot of apps you can use to track weight, miles jogged, heart rate and so on. True, most of these are used by the more athletically-inclined among us, but it's a short hop to using your phone to communicate with sensors in bathroom scales, blood glucose meters, and wearable (or even implanted) sensors to monitor all manner of things that go on in the human body. Instead of checking up on you a few times a year, your doctor could potentially have a real history of data to go on when arranging a treatment plan or prescribing medications.
