Australia Reverses On Internet Filter

Australia has been planning for several years to implement a mandatory Internet content filter - something that always surprised me, as I thought of Australians as a kind of devil-may-care bunch. Now, Communication Minister Stephen Conroy has announced instead blocking a number of sites on Interpol's "worst sites" list - such as those depicting child pornography. Apparently the political realities of getting the proposed mandatory filtering was the cause of the reversal.
