Steadicam For The Rest Of Us

Tiffen's Steadicam is a well-known name in movie circles; it's a very clever gimbal mount used to allow movie makers to make smooth sequences while using a handheld camera. Handheld shots are often use for close up, frantic action (think The Bourne Identity), whereas the Steadicam gives the ability to move the camera around in a very controlled, smooth manner; the snowy maze scene at the end of The Shining is a well-known Steadicam sequence. Now, thanks to the $169 Steadicam Smoothee, we can get in on the action using our iPhones or GoPro devices. The Smoothee is of metal construction and would be particularly useful for high definition video making.
