Internet Explorer 10 Compatibility View Mode

The latest version of Microsoft's built-in web browser, Internet Explorer 10 (IE 10)  has a few operational differences from previous versions (I found this out at work today). IE 10 comes with Windows 8, and is also now available for Windows 7 (although not for Windows XP). If you find your favorite web page looks odd, or has familiar items missing when viewing with IE 10, you may want to try using the "Compatibility View'", which is designed to help with just such eventualities. Microsoft has details here. Note that for Windows 8, compatibility view is only available for the Desktop version of IE 10, not the "App" version.
