The Facebook Phone...Isn't Really

The anticipated Facebook phone isn't really phone hardware dedicated to Facebook (what would that even be?), but rather the announcement on April 4th referred to a mid-level HTC Android smartphone costing $100 that features a very Facebook-centric "skin" or "wrapper", not just a Facebook app (which was already available). When you start up the phone, you are in Facebook Home. The usual smartphone stuff is still there, but front and center (and running in the background) is Facebook. It seems to be priced and aimed at younger adults or teens, and personally I don't know if I'd want or need a phone like that - but I am probably not the target audience. There have also been some perhaps predictable privacy concerns raised about the pervasiveness of the connection to Facebook - will the phone "know" where you live, for instance?
