Automatically Adjust Android Phone Screen Brightness

Android smart phones, like other similar devices, have a light sensor to determine how bright your surroundings are and to adjust the screen brightness automatically - the screen should appear dimmer if you are in a low-light setting, so the glare is not unpleasant.

However, it sometimes does not work too well if the phone manufacturer does not calibrate it at the outset. One way to make using your phone a more pleasant experience is to use the Lux app, as described in this HowToGeek article.

It works automatically, and should give you the experience you actually should have; it works well for me on my Nexus 7. It also gives you the ability to more easily adjust it's behavior to your liking. The App has a quite functional free Lite version, and a more powerful paid version for $3.
