Google Self-Drive Cars Doing Well As Far As Accidents

Google's self-drive cars have racked up almost 2 million miles driving around of public roads over the past 6 years, and have been involved in 12 accidents so far; none serious, and none the fault of the Google vehicles. The vehicles have been rear-ended when stationary and some have been side-swiped.

Google is releasing the accident reports and will continue to do so, as the public needs to become more confident in the admittedly odd concept of the car driving them, rather than the other way round.
“In the six years of our project, we’ve been involved in 12 minor accidents during more than 1.8 million miles of autonomous and manual driving combined,” Google writes. “Not once was the self-driving car the cause of the accident.”
There will be more cars to report on soon, as well: Later this summer, Google’s newest prototypes will be heading for public roads near the company’s offices in Mountain View, CA.
