Sweden's Clever Heart Attack Network

If you suffer a heart attack in the country of Sweden, the emergency number will send a text message to a network of volunteers (specifically to those who are nearby at the time, based up phone location information). That way, someone can start administering CPR if needed while waiting for the emergency services to arrive.

I suspect the ambulance chasers in the US would have a field day with something like that, but it sounds like a smart way for the Swedes to provide timely help in a critical situation.
Through a combination of techniques (including the SMS alert system), the survival rate for cardiac arrest patients in the Stockholm area has risen from three percent to 11 percent in the past decade.
