Now that Windows 10 is well and truly here, Microsoft is pulling out all the stops to get as many users upgraded as quickly as possible to the new version of their PC operating system. Microsoft is offering a no cost upgrade to current Windows 7 and 8 (but not Vista) users for the initial year after Windows 10 launches. One wonders if that "grace period" may even be extended later?
That's all fine and dandy, but what if you are not ready to upgrade, or just don't want to?
Well, those older versions of Windows will still be supported as far as security updates for some time, except for Windows XP, which was taken out back and put out of it's misery last year.
Windows Vista - supported until April 2017Windows 7 - supported until January 2020Windows 8, and 8.1 - supported until January 2023
