Twitter To Continue 140-Character Tweets

Twitter is not going to do away with it's 140-character limit for Tweets, according to CEO Jack Dorsey - quashing rumors based upon some previous comments by the CEO that seemed to open up that possibility.

When the microblogging platform launched 10 years ago, the 140-character limit seemed odd, even though it was initially imposed for compatibility with SMS messaging (texting).

In the time since, Twitter has become identified with the short messages, and it's actually odd to think of longer Tweets showing up.
This confirmation may come as a sigh of relief for long-time Twitter users, who feared that increasing the character limit to such a high value would have moved Twitter from one of its core features; being a micro-blogging site.
