I am not a big whisky drinker myself, despite being Scottish by birth (not a big drinker these days at all, actually). I will gratefully drink and enjoy it if offered, but it's not my alcoholic beverage of choice (beer!). Also, it's "whisky" if made in Scotland, "whiskey" if made in Ireland or the US.
I am not a whisky aficionado, as I indicated - however, my friend Wullie McMorland is. Another Scot, he runs an annual tasting event in Alkmaar, Holland, where he has lived for many years. He recently posted an article from The Scotsman newspaper, and if it's something Wullie agrees with, I would take it as gospel regarding Scotch whisky.
