Researchers have discovered a 5th protein that is a part of the cause of Type 1 Diabetes. Type 1, formerly known as Juvenile Diabetes, is a disease where the body does not produce enough insulin and is a serious - even deadly - though usually manageable condition.
This finding is deemed an important one and may really help in treatment and possibly a future cure.
The research was led by Dr. Michael Christie at the University of Lincoln. He told the BBC that they have now the complete picture of what happens in type 1 diabetes.
“With this new discovery, we have now finished identifying what the immune system is targeting – we have the complete picture.”Hulu Magazine
