Elon Musk's New Rocket Travel Idea

I think one of the things that makes Elon Musk's pronouncements stand out is that they are so, well, futuristic. No room for half measures, just crank the dial all the way to "Jetsons".

This time, it's a rocket service to other cities and countries. Not a rocket-assisted plane or a hyperjet, but an honest-to-goodness rocket working from a floating launchpad
These floating launchpads could be created near major cities all over the world. They then board the SpaceX reusable BFR (that’s Big F*cking Rocket), which exits the atmosphere, before re-entering and touching down on another launchpad.
The idea is you could get to anywhere on earth within an hour, most places within 30 minutes - and supposedly at an airline-competitive cost. It's a small world, after all!
