New Retina Scan To Predict Heart Disease

Using the AI analysis of retinal scans and other data, Google and their medical subsidiary Verily have come up with a test that can predict heart disease almost as effectively as the currently commonly used SCORE method. Googles method involves a retinal scan and SCORE requires a blood test.
When presented with retinal images of two patients, one of whom suffered a cardiovascular event in the following five years, and one of whom did not, Google’s algorithm was able to tell which was which 70 percent of the time.
In this test, SCORE provided 72% accuracy. This seems to once again illustrate the effectiveness of so-called "deep analysis" using artificial intelligence to tease out "cause and effect" inferences from existing large amounts of medical data.
